John Fieseler is a New Jersey native who moved to the Frederick, Maryland area in 1979. He graduated from Fordham University with a Communications degree, and worked at local radio stations for eighteen years before moving into tourism. He is the Executive Director of Visit Frederick and has been active with Civil War Trails since the program first crossed into Maryland in 2002. From identifying sites and making contacts to sometimes writing markers, he has helped with dozens of sites along the Antietam, Gettysburg and Attack on Washington trails. He and his wife Katie live in a circa 1790 log and stone farmhouse that they have restored.
